So using myself as a Guinea Pig I installed McAfee on my machine before installing it on my wifes. And the strangest thing started happening with Outlook 2013. My Hotmail connector works fine. However, outlook started eating all of my Email messages from my primary email address I utilize. I access it via SMTP/POP3. Anyway, it completely eats the message. The send/receive status box works fine and reports no problems. But the content of the message is blank, as in the To:, From:, Cc: Bcc:, Subject, and Body. Naturally I contacted McAfee and was shipped to someone that barely speaks English.

Here is what I did that NOT work:
Disabled the Firewall (Sent test message no dice)
Disabled the Spam Filter (Sent test message no dice)
Turned of real time scanning (Sent the...)

After spending 30 minutes or so on the blower I finally said; "I will research this on my own."

I uninstalled the entire McAfee package and Outlook 2013 is now a happy camper.

Any suggestions would be appreciated on how to disable email scanning either on Outlook's side or McAfee's.

Heck even pointing me in the right direction would be nice.

Regards,
Tom Griffin

The cause of this problem isn't necessarily McAfee, but Outlook in fact. With the way that Outlook stores your e-mails, it does so in a single file, and so when McAfee is deleting potential threats, it has no discretion and attempts to delete them all.

A way to minimize this is to break up your inbox into multiple folders, and you should also enable compacting folders so that once the e-mail is deleted, it's deleted permanently.

If you want to disable e-mail scanning all together though...
