When i touch the volume control on my speaker one of the speakers turns off. If I touch it again it turns back on

Look at the top, first post in (this) tom's Home Audio forum:
"cleaning controls and jacks"

I also forgot that besides dirt in the controls, a bad solder connection can cause that to happen to. Less common, it's usually dirt.
