Homicide was shot in 4:3 aspect ratio, which was the standard at the time of production. Much of its power came from the composition of the frame. Peacock is showing it in 16:9, which cuts out the top and bottom of the frame. I watched the first season and it's not the show the creators intended. The same is true for all TV being streamed that was made before the advent of 16:9 TVs. X-Files is a another example. A show that highlighted the power of the cinematographer and the aspect ratio needs to be preserved.
