Phone Connection issues

I am trying to call a friend that lives in the Colorado springs area, but every time I do, I get a message saying "the number or code you have dialed is incorrect please check the number or code and try again repeat Spanish". I believe she uses Sprint. I use Verizon and live in Ohio with a zipcode of 43316. Is there anyone to resolve the problem
