Phone screen stays black and I need help

My android 4.0 phone is not working it has the slide keypad but for some reason the screen won't turn on I've taken the battery out and put it back in I can still hear the sounds of the text messages I get but the screen stays black

The display doesn't turn on at all?
IF not, hardware issue. Take it to the service center.
