Hello tomshardware, I am here to ask for tips regarding a problem in my laptop monitor showing vertical lines. My laptop is a little more than 2 years old now, and late last year the LCD hinge got a little crack. I suspect this is because 1) the laptop is wholly plastic and 2) the hinge probably lost some of its lubrication already.

The lines aren't there 24/7, and I usually use another monitor to do stuff. There are certain angles where it shows, and also certain angles where it doesn't. It looks horrible now, what do I do? Should I go back to where I bought my laptop and have it fixed there? Or is there another problem that isn't related to the damage on the hinge? Thank you so much!

It looks like a faulty connection between the mobo and the screen. I wouldn't open it up just yet but try updating all the graphical drivers for your laptop. What drivers are there? If you right click on your desktop it should say. Mine is "Intel Graphics"
