Hi all!

I am thinking about buying a Lenovo Y50 and I would like to know if the improved specifications below would make the diference in long term or would it be better to get the cheaper one and use that extra money for a 512 SSD (since I also have usb 3.0 external storage).

I use my laptop for gaming at 1080p (using a monitor connected by HDMI) and video editing.

Both models are
Intel Core i7-4710HQ Processor( 2.50GHz 1600MHz 6MB)
HD 1TB 5400 rpm

But then there are 2 options:

15,6" FHD 1920x1080
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2GB
8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz

Or

15,6" Ultra HD IPS Glare LED Backlit 3840x2160
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 4GB
16.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz

This second option is around 250$ more expensive.

Thank you in advance for the help.

If it was me, I'd go for the SSD rather than the higher screen resolution. The extra RAM might help with the video editing, but you could always add that later, probably for less than $250. The added VRAM probably wouldn't make much difference at 1080p.

Basically, I'd say go for the first one, add an SSD, and maybe add more RAM later if you need it.

Define toy go with the first option buddy, you mostly game at 1080p and 4k is useless if you plan on getting 60+ frames with good settings on most games. That 860m just isn't powerful enough by itself. Maybe if it were sli, but that's not the case. So stay with the first option and buy yourself a nice ssd :)
