Please help me with my laptop upgrade, should I upgrade CPU or not??

Hello, I have a HP pavilion g6 laptop. It was terrible for gaming so I bought an external graphic card (HD 7950 MSI) and today I just ordered 8gb ram for it. It's ok for gaming but I still can't have maximum graphics settings, in the website it only says my CPU is bad, any way upgrading my CPU on this laptop, I currently have inter core i3 M370 2.40GHz. do you guys think once the ram comes it will be faster for gaming because I'm currently talking with 3 GB ram waiting for the new 8gb to arrive.
