1. i want to future proof it
2. im confused as to how well the 980m performs, can it ultra all games and maybe some in future?
3. is 980m a very good laptop card? i see the 870m still doing good

the specs are

firstly sorry for bombaring you with questions im just confused and want to make sure i make a good decision

this laptop is desktop processorr in it i7 6700k
has a 980m graphics 8 gb ddr5
8 gb ddr4 2133mhz

i wanted to get the desktop gtx 980 in the laptop which is obv better but they only come in 17.3 and i think this is too big for use.

You won't be able the fit the desktop version in your laptop unfortunately.

1. Not entirely future proof, though it'll be good for very long.

3. The 980m is much better than the 870m

you can put the desktop 980 gtx but only in the 17.3 laptop

980m is awesome for laptop gaming.

You could probably buy another 8GB of RAM in a store and pay $5-$10 to get them to install it for you if you want to future proof for titles that use lots of RAM.
 


nVidia made available desktop versions of the GTX 980 chip to be used in laptops. These are cherry picked GPU chips that can operate at lower voltage (less watts) compared to typical GTX 980 chips used in desktop cards.

They have been slightly de-tuned to consume less power. I think nVidia lowered the clockspeed by 5% - 10% to reduce power consumption and heat.
