Plugged ipod 30 gp into pc computerdo not disconnect

I plugged my husbands ipod 30 GP into our pc computer to charge the battery and know it says on the ipod screen DO NOT DISCONNECT with a circle w/ a line through it.

My husband has 3,000 songs on this ipod. He recectly passed away after a 4 year battle with cancer. I do not want to lose any songs that are on this I ipod. Please tell me what to do. if i unplugg it will I lose all the songs?

if you click on the Ipod screen it should say OK to disconnect, you might look at archiving all his music

nothing happened the circle w/ the line through that flashes continues to flash

try right clicking and see if you get a tool box that has disconnect in the menu, do you have it in a dock or on a cable, if all you did was charge the battery, I don't think there is any problem with losing data
