I'm trying to repair an HP Pavilion g7-1173dx laptop that will boot up normally and after a few minutes the backlight goes out and the screen becomes dark. If you shine a flashlight onto the screen you can see the image fine and on an external display there is no issue at all.
Because of this I thought that the problem would be either the Inverter or the backlight itself, however when I disassembled the laptop it appeared as though this model has the light and inverter both inside the LCD screen?
The screen model is LP173WD1 (TL)(C3) and I have replaced it with a proper replacement screen and the issue still continues.
I know how to locate and replace inverters on other laptop models, but I just don't see one in this model which is what led me to believe it was in the screen.
Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE: I have replaced the video cable and the problem still continues
