power IC problem for toshiba laptop L755

is there any way to replace my toshiba L755 laptop power IC?i just went to a toshiba service center and the techinician there said that need to replace the whole motherboard.any other option i can do?

I recently wiped out a Toshiba board attempting that repair - I'll share what I learned here... don't try to hand solder the IC's (that's how I screwed up) instead use a low heat solder like "Chip-Quik" and a heat gun

The removal product probably isn't needed since you're only dealing with a few pins on the IC but it is a good product (IMO) and it is an option - the low heat solder paste really is the ticket here though (again, my opinion)

The problem with doing that is unless the blown (or bad) IC is obvious, you may find yourself replacing a lot of components on the board and still get nowhere. The laptop I was working on had obvious discoloration on two of the IC's which made it easier to figure
