Problem with Laptop Display

I have a Toshiba Notebook Satellite C855-22M, Intel i5 3rd gen. Laptop's display shows "scrambled", image is flickering, colors are not showing correctly. You can barely see the screen either in BIOS mode or in Windows.

OS starts but the image is very poor. The same applies when connecting the laptop to an external monitor/TV via HDMI.

Tried with a Live OS and reinstalling Windows on another hard drive; nothing changed.

Replacing the motherboard could solve the problem?

If this happens on the attached display and an external monitor, then it is likely the GPU. Which then yes it is possible that the motherboard would need to be replaced.
