Hi all. I was using my probook 4510s in the office and wanted to continue my work at home so I hibernate the system. On getting home I started the system and it started booting but did not finish booting up and the screen remain blank. The fan was working and some lights were showing but the booting did not continue. we checked the hard disk and ram and they were ok. The screen also is perfect. Someone suggested it was the motherboard problem. Please if you have any idea help me out.

Sounds like an operating system issue.

Since you said the screen works, I am going to assume that your PC posts, and you can boot from an external disk. HP should have onboard diagnostics utilities for ram/hdd and a few other things. Run those if you haven't.

If you have a system disk, you could try performing a repair install on Windows or reinstall windows and your applications.

I completely agree. I did a bios update on a customer's and it completely fried a few weeks ago. It was a fun day.

Hi :)

The BIOS chip IS the problem but it has to be CHANGED...

All the best Brett :)

I got excited when I typed that. I should have said that I did a bios update on a probook 4530S (i think) and it fried.

Please I have done that ram/hdd utilities but the system still refuses to boot up. The system goes to the hp screen and shows an error message on the top left corner that "invalid serial key". Then it leaves that screen and become blank and stops booting up.
