is NPS still about the cheapest/best provider?

Heres what i watch..
all the high def's (hbo, sho, starz, encore, discovery theatre)
all the discovery channels, food network.
comedy central (damn i miss the west feed)
no sports.
no non-highdef movie channels.

Basically at nps I am looking at $1000/yr (absolute digital package at
229.99; big view w/digital starz at 719.99, discovery hd theater at 49.99)

Thanks for any thoughts or links to other providers.

Although I am currently loathing them (as they apparently don't transfer
subscriptions from a dropped analog channel to the new digital
replacement channel), you might be able to save some bux at
www.turnervision.com as they don't make you do the digital sports (so
the digitals you want should be a lot cheaper than 229.99) in order to
get their other digital offerings. Perhaps you can come up with a combo
that meets your needs. You can also mix and match between the two
service providers. You don't need to get everything from just one.

Maybe it depends a lot on who you happen to talk to. When a couple of
our subscribed analog channels went to K-Band, the person I talked
with allowed a discount. Once I upgraded to K and 4dtv, they reminded
me that they had already given me a break for the loss from my C-Band
channels so applied that balance towards subscriptions to the new
band. Guess my only complaint with them was during a holiday a few
years ago when I lost my authentication, there was nobody there to
answer their phone and give me a re-hit. That was a big deal at the
time, but in retrospect, are any of them doing any better?

Wasn't really interested in giving them even more money... plus most of
the channels were no great loss. But glad to see that at least some
consideration was given.
