Protection Plans with Laptops/Chromebooks

In general, these Protection Plans for laptops, are they worth getting or no? Just want to know how useful they are or if it's just a waste of money.

Such insurance is a bad bet that you do not want to win.
Protection plans are profit makers.
The vendors expect to collect much more on average than they pay our.
Some are scams which will never pay out.
If you can handle the loss yourself in some manner you will be ahead of the game.
