PS3 hookup to dell inspiron

Currently I have been looking all over the place to find out how i can hookup my PS3 to my laptop. The only information I found out is that I can not use just the HDMI port because it does not work for some reason. Other than this, I have no idea how to hook it up. Whoever reads this, if you could please point me in the right direction and help me out with my problem. It would also help if you could provide where i can find all the parts necessary too.

You can't use the HDMI port because it is an HDMI-out. In other words, it only outputs video, and can't accept video inputs. I not sure if this is possible at all since the only input a laptop monitor will display is the laptop itself. I suppose you could take it apart, separating the monitor from it, and then rig that to be used as an external monitor, but that seems excessive and expensive.
