Q > Old Laptop Use?

Good Day to all.

This is my 1st time writing/asking in this forum. First of all, I am currently using my old laptop which is the "Toshiba Satellite Pro C640" which has a core i3-2330M with 4gb RAM. Despite having a broken hinge, it's still good in my everyday use. Meanwhile, I have found out that we have another old laptop which is an "HP Pavilion DM1-3205AU" with a AMD Brazos E350 ( w/o HDD,RAM) . May I know from you experts if there is something I can do with this two old laptops (maybe combine?) to maximize the potential of my old laptops? I am thinking that maybe there is something I can use from this HP Pavillion to attach in my Toshiba to make to it more optimize?

Hello, thank you for the fast answer. Can i even hook up a Pi to my old HP Pavilion? Buying addional ram and hdd for this unit may seem expensive. Comparing my Toshiba laptop and the HP Pavillion, Toshiba is more capable of daily task I think due to its processor and etc. Am I even right?

I had an old Compaq Presario. I used it to host minecraft servers with its measly 4gb ram and dual core CPU. Also used it for hosting a teamspeak server.

You can use your spare HP in the same way. If you have USB flash drive you can put an OS on it like Ubuntu. Provided your laptop can boot from USB (most can). An additional project you could try is making a storage server. Just plug in a new hard drive or plug in USB drives/hard drives and share them on the network. Is it cheaper and easier than buying an external enclosure or drive built for the task? Probably not but you could learn some things if you want to improve your knowledge in the PC world.

If it has a webcam or you don't mind purchasing one you can use the laptop as a portable security cam. Just set it on a table facing into the room or somewhere else. There are programs that will also allow you to share your webcam over the network.
