Hello.
I want to know how the VGA output works in laptops.
In PC's, the graphics cards VGA output only gives to one channel directly, from GPU to the screen.
Now in my laptop, I would like to game.
My question is, when I connect a screen to the VGA output, and select to display only on the big screen, does the laptop screen still get data but is turned off, or does the graphics card broadcast ONLY to one channel which is the big screen?

As you may know this makes a big difference; GPU that transmits to one channel which is the BIG screen makes a stable gaming experience as it doesn't have to transmit to two channels.

So, does it only turn off the laptop screen while it keeps broadcasting to two channels ? (the big screen and the laptop screen) or does it only turn to broadcast to one channel which is the big screen?

I hope my question is understood :na:

Not for certain but would think it actually switches off. However, I believe it's just a signal switch/splitter so I wouldn't expect any performance hit at all since the GPU rendering engine wouldn't be involved. Mirroring a screen still just uses one frame.

That make sense?
