My room mate from last year got one and he loves it. Just don't expect any battery life out of it. What games are you planning to play on it?

The Asus is much better than the Sony for gaming. The Radeon HD 5870 is one of the best single card GPUs for laptops right now.
If you don't have a budget though, consider checking out http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np9285-built-clevo-d900f-ultimate-custom-laptop-p-2577.html or http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8120-built-clevo-x8100-gaming-laptop-p-2768.html for either the best single card GPU (Nvidia 480M) or for 2x 285M on SLI, respectively.

EDIT: Mistake: SLI-ed 285M instead of 5870 on Crossfire.
