Can I buy the 128gb razer blade and just buy a 1tb wd passport to have all my games on instead of paying an extra 200 for an a 256gb ssd model? Does anyone know what kind of fps i would be looking at playing on 3200x1800 on the razer's 870m? Thanks

Not a good idea. The USB hard disk is a PAIN to keep connected.

You can always buy a 256gb M.2 SSD, swap it in and sell the 128gb. Probably save about $100 in the end, although not without quite a bit of effort.

I would not try swapping the SSD on an ultra-thin laptop.

That's coming from me, as I type this on a laptop I built from spare parts gathered off FleaBay.

The thinnest laptops use mSATA drives or 2.5" drives that are significantly thinner than the traditional 9.5mm. If You get a 5.5mm SSD, it will be difficult and expensive to find a replacement.

The RazerBlade uses M.2 SSD's, not SATA or mSATA, and yes they are extremely thin. They are expensive (~$100+/128gb, ~$200+/256gb and ~$500+/512gb), not particularly common, and you need to make sure you get the right size and key. As I said, he could save about $100 but not without considerable effort. But it seems like a pain in the arse to game connected to a USB, especially as the port gets older and worn out so it won't hold the plug as firm.
