I can't get my rca blu ray surround theater system to work during tv watching. It only works during dvd watching. How do i get it to work for both?

The most common audio output of TVs is optical audio. If your HTiB has an optical input then use it with a toslink cable.
If the TV has optical out and your HTiB has a 3.5mm stereo input or 2 RCA audio inputs you will need a DAC like this one to convert

If the TV has analog audio outputs and the HTiB has inputs as above you will use these with the correct cable.
If you can't follow this perhaps you should have a friend do it or have a tech to do it for you. Sometimes you have to pay a pro to do what you can't.
