Realtek Audio Can't Select Default?

So I wanted to set my mic to the default communications device so I can Skype with some friends, but for some reason the option is greyed out. There are no other devices that are the default, so I do not know how to fix it.

did you try unpluging your mic and repluging when repluging it shows a dialog box where we can select certain options

I did, but the option to select it as default is greyed out. I have tried reinstalling.
