reboot and select proper boot device

When I turn my Samsung laptop on its says to reboot and select the proper boot device. After going onto the system options I only have one name for a boot device. I have no idea what any of this means either...

While you boot your computer, press ESC key. It will get you to start up menu, then press F10, it will open BIOS window. Then finally press F9, it will make all setup as default.
This answer might solve your problem, else there is some loose contact in sata cable or in seating of Hard disk, remove it and place it again.

Thanks for that but when I try pressing esc a menu comes up for a split second then it goes back to saying the problem. How long should I hold the esc button in?

I tried pressing f10 when the menu appeared but nothing happened, it says is SATA: slimtypeDVD A DS8A8SH and to enter setup
