Hi,
I recently purchased a HP 15-F211WM. I'd like to know the probability of playing The Sims 3 Starter Pack (base game, Late Nights, High End Stuff) with the University Life, Seasons, Generations, and Ambitions expansion packs and the Town Life Stuff pack. I have no intentions to download any customized items or adding any additional expansion packs or stuff packs. I will only be using this laptop for the Sims 3 and occasionally Netflix. The majority (ALL) of my game play would be offline and I am content with playing on the lower settings. The HP specifications are as follows:

Microprocessor: 2.16GHz Intel Celeron N2840 Processor with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.58GHz Dual Core
Memory: 4GB DDR3L SDRAM (1 DIMM)
Hard Drive: 500GB 5400RPM hard drive
Memory Slots: 1 user accessible
Video Graphics: Intel HD graphics
Display: 15.6-inch diagonal HD WLED-backlit touchscreen display (1366x768)

I haven't purchased any of the games yet nor have I opened the HP. I'd like to know if this device can handle The Sims 3. I plan to order games via Origin as soon as I feel confident in making the purchase. Thank you all in advance for your feedback.

Solution
If it can play the Sims 3 and the expansion packs (which increase the system requirements), then it would be very sluggish at 1024x720 resolution.

The Celeron N2840 is a low power and low performance Atom CPU (not a Core i3/i5/i7 CPU) that is really meant only for basic everyday usage, not games. I have seen someone play the Sims 3 (and some expansions) on a laptop with an Intel Core i5-2410m CPU with the integrated Intel HD 3000 and he said while the game was "playable", it was sluggish as well.

The Celeron N2840 is far less powerful than the i5-2410m (released in 2011) in terms of processing performance. The N2840's Intel HD (Bay Trail) graphics core also a lot less powerful than the Intel HD 3000.

I recommend returning the laptop...

I recommend returning the laptop and spending a little more for a laptop that is at least capable of playing the Sims 3 decently. The following Lenovo G50 laptop for $339 is far more capable of playing the Sims 3.
