Hello all,
I enjoy spending hours in front of the computer for games and music and was looking for an upgrade to replace my current headphones.

I currently own the 80 ohm Beyerdyanmics DT770 Pro

they are the best headphones I've ever owned; beating my old high-end Sennheisers.

The sound card I use in my PC is the ASUS Xonar STX:

Despite this great combo I am looking for a new pair of headphones that are NOTICEABLY better than the ones I own; preferably from the same company (love the build quality). Was looking to spend between $200-$500. I have enjoyed the closed style for the added bass but was thinking a more expensive semi-open design could deliver the same amount of bass anyways. Thoughts?

Check out anything by Grado. I've personally not had the pleasure of hearing a pair of Grado headphones, but audiophiles rave about them. As far as I understand it, open back gives better sound quality, closed back gives poorer sound reproduction but means your audio doesn't leak out and annoy everyone around you (and vice versa).
