I need to replace my old laptop (which has an ancient i7-2670QM and GT 555m) for both working and gaming reasons.

I really don't want to spend more than $1600, I want a Thunderbolt 3 x4 port, and I want a GTX 1060 or higher. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I am also wondering how long until the Coffee Lake refreshes come out.

Several options here:

14 inch Razer Blade, thin and light with a 6 gig 1060 and 1080p screen at $1600 currently, although a wonderful machine for travel.

Much cheaper ($1200) Acer Aspire Nitro 15 with the same i7 and 6 gig 1060, but a 256 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD for storage. 1080p screen, same as the Razer blade, but bigger size and potentially less battery life.

Here is a complete list of laptops with Thunderbolt 3, some of them are quite pricey though.

The odds are, granted I am guessing here, that 99.99% of the time, you should get more for your money if you wait. But recent trends are with CPU, GPU, and memory prices moving up instead of down, it actually makes this harder to call. But the rule of thumb is that if you wait, you can get more so it would be worthwhile. The question is what is the level of your patience, how long can you tolerate waiting, the last thing you want to do is that you waited and got frustrated and then give in and pay to much, and the next week the price drop happens on the one you want.
