Red cross on internet connection

Hello. So i've been having this problem for about 2 weeks when my wifi got accidentally plugged out. The internet icon has a red cross on it and it cant 'see' wifi connections. I checked the network adapters as most of the solution for this problem include uninstalling the wifi adapter driver then restarting the pc. The thing is the wifi adapter isnt visible for me. So in view i checked the thing that lets me see the 'hidden' adapters, and it was there so i uninstalled it but when i rebooted it didnt install itself back. I searched online and found out i had to install the driver from the Asus site, the thing is i cant find my laptop model on the site. On the back it says X541U but it's not on the site.

Any advices on what i can do?
