Red flashing light

Daughters acre notebook has red flashing light when screen shut and when opened no password option comes off and can’t switch it off?

Need some more details here, red flashing light where? There are probably a few lights, disk operation, power, charging, etc...

No password option comes up, how far does it boot? Does it start the BIOS screen? To turn it off did you hold in the power button for about 10 seconds?
