Hello,

I have a Lenovo G570 laptop that is connected to a Dell u2311h monitor through a DVI cable with a HDMI adapter at the laptop end. It is only two weeks since I got the stuff and it has worked perfectly well until yesterday.

After I connected my 6 year old Dell usb mouse to the laptop and a lot of flickering red pixels appeared on the monitor. Even after I removed the mouse and restarted a couple of times the red pixels are still there, sometimes more sometimes less.

If I use a VGA cable instead the problem goes away, so the problem is perhaps related to the DVI cable / HDMI adapter, somehow triggered by the Dell mouse....strange thing....

The VGA cable works fine, but the screen is not as sharp as it used to be with the DVI setup.

Any suggestions out there on how to fix this curious issue?

Have you tried using a different cable and adapter?

Like you said maybe it has to do with the cables.

Did you check the pins on the DVI cable and adapter? Make sure they aren't bent.

The cable and adapter are brand new and in perfect shape. I doubt they are the real problem since they worked just fine before I plugged in the mouse...
