I'm looking at http://www.dell.com/us/dfh/p/laptops

Does anyone have experiences with refurbished Dell laptops? - do they last just as long as a new customized XPS?

What warranty should I get?:
XPS 17-L702X: 1 Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, In-Home Service after Remote Diagnosis (Included In Price)
XPS 17-L702X: 2 Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, In-Home Service after Remote Diagnosis [add $129.00]
XPS 17-L702X: 1Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, In-Home Service after Remote Diagnosis + CompleteCare [add $69.00]
XPS 17-L702X: 2Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, In-Home Service after Remote Diagnosis + CompleteCare [add $209.00]

On there I found a XPS 17: Processor: Intel Core i7-2630QM processor 640X2 harddrive, 8 GB Blu-ray, Disc Combo, Geforce 550M $1,149.00

Thanks!

*Apologies! I forgot to mention that I need the laptop within a week of ordering it, so the system has to be pre-built - normal Dell configured laptops take around 3 weeks to produce and ship right? (I need it delivered to NYC)

I buy from the Dell Outlet all the time. usually I cannot even tell the unit was not a fresh build just for me.
and the warranty is the same! - I do however always get the complete care accidental damage coverage for at least a year , as it has paid off for me more than once..
one broken display usually covers it.. plus the fact that they come to me and fix it so I am not sending units out for a week at a time..

@randomstar - thanks for the info!!

Regarding delivery time, if I order online with next-day shipping to NYC, roughly how long do you think it would take to receive it? - under 3 or 4 days?

I have had two great experiences with delloutlet.com. Both of those deliveries got to where I live a day before what it said they would with the regular shipping. You should without worry get it on time. But, If its isn't an absolute necessity, I would think that it would be better to go with the regular or the step up from regular shipping and save the $. In my case, I got my first laptop in 4 days and my dad got his in 5 with the regular shipping. Good luck with your new laptop :)
