relpaced vista with xp

Replaced vista with XP SP3 on a dell inspiron 530. Won't boot , get missing config message. Tried the "r" repair option on install disk, nothing. Anyone....?

I did the clean instal, it was actually up and running . I went to the dell driver site and downloaded the drivers I needed for sound, monitor etc; They were for XP

You shouldn't need any driver for the monitor.

Can't get to safe mode , doesnt recognize the hd

Trying removing all the drivers...
Install one at a time... reboot and install the next one so you can see witch one is causing compatibilities issues...

It doesn't recognize the hard drive? Sounds like the drive may have gone bad.

Try installing a blank drive. If it recognizes it, your old drive is toasted.
