Remove battery while downloading at night?

i plan to download at nighttime while sleeping so the laptop will be on for about 6 hours, is it better for me to leave it on without the battery or better with the battery? i did this without the battery a few days ago for one laptop and now the AC adaptor power brick isnt working

The charger failure could be just be a coincidence.

When I use my laptop at home I simply remove the battery. When I want to bring it along with me I fully charge it.

i heard removing it too often is bad for the battery, is that true?
