Windows updates won't install. I reset my Toshiba laptop to factory specs, and when it rebooted
I got some fake Windows 8.1 Build 9600. I must have gotten a virus because my Windows logo went from mult-color to all black. So nothing works correctly, especially not being able to install updates. What can I do?

Toshiba has emailed me a few product key numbers but they won't install!

Toshiba has emailed me a few product key numbers but they won't install!

If the laptop came from Toshiba's factory with Windows 8 or 8.1, they should not need to email anything to you; your product key should be embedded in the laptop's firmware - no activation required.

Have you made any changes to the BIOS settings for the laptop?
