Repairing Laptop LCD screen

My ASUS laptop UL50V's screen stopped working. Well the back light can still be seen, but no images are loaded onto the screen what-so-ever. It also has a built in web cam and this has stopped previously, I don't need the webcam BTW. So I was wondering if this is likely to be a problem with the screen cable or with LCD screen itself?
