resolution problems on certain things

ok, so i bought a dell laptop with an i7-5500u @2.40ghz processor. It says it can display 1920x1080, but when i was watching a twitch.tv stream, it says i only can display 1280x720. Also, i checked on www.whatismyscreenresolution.com and it still said 1280x720. so, i went on to youtube, and was able to watch a 1080p video. I might not be thinking these things clearly, and i'm not the smartest when it comes to computers as a whole.

Have you tried updating the graphics card driver of your laptop?
- Go to Device Manager then uninstall the graphics card driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to the graphics card.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.
- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed.
