There are many albums that have songs which segue into each other (such as "Computer Blue/Darling Nikki on Prince and the Revolution's Purple Rain Soundtrack) and I would like to make MP3s of the complete audio sequences without them being chopped up into separate songs. Using Windows media Player 10 if possible.

Solution
WMP10 isn't for editing audio. Second the use of Audacity for your application. No need to spend money.
Not to hard to do. You can drag and drop the mp3s into Audacity and cut and paste them together. Audacity won't alter the original rips so you can play with the crossfades and save as a separate mp3.
