I'm thinking of upgrading to the 7970m making the price 1500 +tx and shipping it should come out to about 1600+.

Is it worth it?

This will be used with the newest games and future games as well. Thanks

if you planing on 1920x1080 with moderate antialiasing, go for it, the 7970m/680m are the major competitive mobile gpus who have a decent standing compared to desktop gpus to some extent.
