Samsung audio problem

I have a Samsung smart TV with optical output connected to an Insignia home theater with an optical to analog converter. It works when watching regular TV but not on YouTube or any of the other apps. I have it set to PCM. What could be the problem ?

Try to set the "Audio Out/Optical" on your TV.

I tried that, didn't make any difference. What gets me is that when it's on regular TV it works fine but when I put it on YouTube or any other apps, it doesn't work. That tells me that my converter is working but there's only signal in the optical line when the TV is set to "live TV".

You can try changing the audio in the app itself but some TVs don't output audio from the apps. Really really stupid.
