Samsung or sony

Hello,
I'm about to start college. I've never owned a computer and wanted to know which would be better for me? I am a photographer too, so would like a laptop that would be good for photos, school work, watching videos, and general web browsing. I've narrowed my liking between a samsung and a sony vaio. Other suggestions welcomed. Please help.

There's essentially no difference between laptop manufacturers. It doesn't matter who makes the laptops you're looking at; you just have to go by their specs and price.
