Samsung Rugby II A847 for T Mobile

I have two Samsung Rugby II A847 phones which seem to be designed for AT&T. I installed T Mobile sim cards and they send and receive perfectly. The problem is the phones try to connect me to AT&T services. Can I defeat this? Samsung is no help.
