Question Samsung smart tv F6700 and Yamaha 5.1 Channel Home Theatre YHT1840B

I just bought the Yamaha 5.1 Channel Home Theatre YHT1840B today, and my Samsung TV did not pick up the unit. On my TV there are HDMI (STB - standby?) port, HDMI (ARC) port, HDMI port and HDMI (DVI) port. I've all these port and the TV cannot pick the Yamaha. Do I need a HDMI ARC cable to do the job? please be advised amd very much appreciated, thanks
