Screen issues on a HP laptop

I have this stuff popping up on my screen on my HP laptop, I think it may be a hardware issue. Does anyone know what causes this? It goes away but comes back every couple weeks when I move my mouse or click at certain spots.

Have you tried to connect an external monitor to see if it duplicates the fault. Does it have dedicated Graphics or shared motherboard? Try running memory checks.
Have you tried removing and updating your graphics drivers.

Also, check temperature sensor on your CPU and GPU and ventilation system, artifacts on screen are often connected with overheating issues.
