Screen Transplant Gateway P-7805u

Okay, so I have a predicament. I really want a Gateway P-7811 FX, but they were discontinued. Gateway released a similar notebook, the P-7805u, with the same specs except that they bumped down the screen resolution from 1900 x 1200 to 1440 x 900. Major loss. So I was wondering, is it possible to swap out the screen on the P-7805u with a screen from a P-7811 and get the same results?

I am going through the exact same thing right now. I got a 7805u a while back that actually had the WUXGA screen (before they silently downgraded it) -- but then when the screen cracked I had it repaired through geek squad -- and when it came back, it was the 1400x900. At this point, I loved that screen so much that I'd do anything to get it back...

So have you gotten anywhere with this since then?

So I just broke my P-7805u FX's 1440x 900 screen and I have the same question. Did youever find out if you can replace a 7805u screen with a P-7811 FX 1900 x 1200 screen?
