SD memory access

I can't add folders to my SD card in my Samsung Tab 3. When I attempt to I get a message "access denied".

The SD card is write protected ... read only mode.

After powering down the device, it is now working correctly. I had previosly written to the SD chip, so I am sure that it wasn't write protected.

I usually connect smart devices via the PC and configure / add music and stuff via the PC to the SD Card ... rather than via the device. Sometimes I have to restart the device because it locks me out ... often its because the cable between them plays up a bit.
