Solved! Security: How to safely install a virus on a VM

So I use Oracle VirtualBox and I want to have a contest with my friend to see who could destroy Windows XP the most. I am hesitant to do this because I know viruses can detect and escape from a Virtual Machine. Is there and possible way to make it so the Virtual Machine is separated from my computer and/or doesn't allow or make it hard for a virus to wriggle through the VM and into my host machine?
