Seeking 2.1 good setup that kicks ~$200-400??

I'm looking at all the products and all the reviews and having the worst time finding a desktop setup that I feel comfortable buying. I want a clear sound for personal use that will also rock the house if desired like my 15-year old Dell setup still sorta does. I want them wired into my computer/wall. I'm not sold on the soundbars - maybe they're similar. Want 'em to last. Thank you for any suggestions.
