Seeks scanning software OTHER than Adobe Photoshop

Can anyone recommend a good scanning / photo editing software besides Adobe Photoshop? My primary use of the software would be scanning single sheet docs thru my HP single sheet scanner and then turning the docs into a jpeg or tif file which can then be emailed. I have a HP 1100Axi laser printer/copier/scanner. Thank you.

I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7. They have version 8 available now. You can download a free trial (full featured for 30 days) at <A HREF="http/www.jascsoftware.com" target="_new">http/www.jascsoftware.com</A>. It's not nearly as complex as Photoshop, but there's still a whole lot you can do with it. I've done various graphics for a few different websites and special interest projects with PSP.
