I have a nexus 5x. Google support, the maker, says I must buy th $650 pixel in order to use my ayl earbuds to record my voice from a distance, This seems insane but is it true? At my wits end.

Nexus has bluetooth, why don't they work for you?

You have to clarify your usage first...
- you want to record audio using your phone
- you want to edit a video on your phone, and add voice track over it
- something else

Just for the record - why you would punish yourself creating / editing content on a 5" screen?
