Sell verizon wireless phone number

I have a Verizon Android. When last I went to a Verizon store to get my own phone plan. The associate told me that since my Interent was "grandfathered in" my Interent is truly unlimited for $30.00 a month. At the time I was thinking of dropping my Internet altogether because I really do not use it that much. He told me that I could actually sell my phone number to someone who wanted the truly unlimited Internet. Is this true and if so how do I go about do this?

If you have an Android phone, you can't drop the data plan. Any smart phone from any company that I have checked on needs a data plan attached to the service.
